Junior golf camp at Rancho

Rancho Maria Golf Club is hosting a Junior Camp for kids to learn the game of golf.  The three-day event runs from Tuesday, July 10 through Thursday, July 12.

The camp goes from noon to 2 p.m. each day.

The cost is $50 and includes PGA professional instruction, range balls, snacks and four golf clubs if needed. All aspects of the game will be taught in a fun and entertaining environment.

3-pointer summer hoops camp

The Lompoc Valley Christian Men’s Ministry will sponsor its 11th annual Ultimate 3-Pointer Summer Basketball Camp Monday, June 25, through Thursday, June 28, at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene gymnasium, 500 E. North Ave.

The youth camp will be divided into two age groups. Third to fifth grade boys and girls rusn from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sixth to ninth grade boys and girls runs from noon to 3 p.m.

The camp instructor will be Curt Bickley, head basketball coach at Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Ore. Bickley was a basketball player and coach at Valley Christian Academy in Santa Maria, setting several state and national records.

Registration is $75 per child. Awards and prizes will be given out.

Merlo Memorial scholarships

The Jane Merlo Memorial Golf Tournament committee is accepting scholarship applications from local youth golfers.

Submit your scholarship requests to committee secretary Dottie Lyons, 914 Fairway Vista Drive, Santa Maria 93455.

Please include a brief review of your golf experience, the amount of scholarship you are requesting and what the scholarship money will be spent on to further your golf career.

The 12th Annual Jane Merlo Memorial Tournament will be played on August 11th at the Rancho Maria Golf Club.

Lompoc seeks dance line Coach

Lompoc High School has an immediate opening for a dance line/pageantry coach for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Hancock baseball summer clinic

The Allan Hancock College baseball team is hosting a summer baseball clinic for players ages six through 18.

Players will learn techniques in hitting and fielding as well as pitching skills during the four-day camp.

The clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Monday, June 25 through Thursday, June 28.

Instructors include former major league pitcher Bryn Smith, Hancock head coach Chris Stevens, SM Valley Packers head coach Scott Nickason, Lompoc High head coach Jim Allen, Hancock assistant coach Terry Newby, Hancock pitching coach Clarence Griego, Hancock assistant coach Cody Smith and Hancock assistant coach Paul Swack.

The cost for each is $125 and $100 for each additional family member. All camp participants receive a T-shirt.
