Former Golf Australia National Squad member Daniel Nisbet will make his pro debut at the John Hughes Geeley / Nexus Risk Services WA Open at Royal Perth Golf Club this week.
The Queenslander, who represented Australia at the Eisenhower Trophy in Turkey, arrives in the west following his extraordinary performance at the First Stage of PGA Tour Q-School in Texas where he won by 12 strokes.
“The week was good, I have played Lantana Golf Club a few times so I knew the course, I was very happy with my game and things went pretty well for me.”
“The goal was just to make the top 18 to go through to the next stage, obviously I knew the better position I got then the more chance that I was going to get my first preference for second stage.”
“It has been my dream for a long time, PGA TOUR is where I want to play for the rest of my career, hopefully it will work out, but I just want to stay grounded and put my best foot forward.”
He comes to Royal Perth having played the course on several occasions during his amateur career.
“We played the Australian Interstate Series here, junior and amateur, so I am pretty familiar with the course.”
“Queensland won the last Interstate series, I was part of the winning team so that was a great bonus, it’s a wonderful course and I really enjoy playing it.”
“It wouldn’t necessarily suit me, I mean it’s a very tight course and it’s just a lot of percentage plays and not necessarily a lot of drivers off the tee, if you can keep it on the fairway and your short game is nice and sharp you will be able to shoot a good number."
“I just want to take a few of the things I had going right for me last week (in Texas) and bring them into this week and put a good number on the board,” he added.
