The Titleist 913 Series drivers are on their way to pro shops: the913D2
. Those are the clubs that lead off our latest roundup of new equipment.
Titleist fitting technicians at the centres, located at St Ives (Hunts) GC in Camrbidgeshire, Kings Acre GC in Midlothian, Celtic Manor GC in south Wales and the GUI National Academy at Carton House in County Kildare, will guide golfers through the fitting process to ascertain which product with which settings will work best for their game.
The 913 drivers feature Titleist's SureFit Tour hosel, with the
featuring a larger 460cc head compared to the 445cc head of the more workable913 D3 driver
. The D2, which is more in my own personal wheelhouse, is 460 ccs, also has improved CG and has a face insert that I thought delivered really good feel. I hit this one a lot higher than the driver I have now and that’s a good thing for me.
I also liked the feel of the club and the sound, which had a nice solid ring to it. I was told there was a team assembled just to deal with the sound the club made – these guys don’t miss a thing!
The 913 family of drivers has enjoyed an impressive initial foray onto the worldwide Tours, with both Rory McIlroy and Bernd Wiesberger recording victories.
