Has anyone got or demo hit the new titleist 913 D2 & D3 drivers ? Now I am thinking of purchasing a new titleist 913 D2 driver for the new season.
Titleist says the 460cc 913 D2 and 445cc Titleist 913 D3 driver, as used by World No.1 Rory McIlroy (below), represent the most technologically advanced drivers the company has ever produced and this custom fitting experience will ensure that performance is maximised for each player.
The Titleist 913 D2 driver features a 460cc full-pear shaped head designed for maximum forgiveness and a slight draw bias, while the 913D3 has a 445cc classic-pear shape that is forgiving and was the preferred weapon of choice for McIlroy because of its workability.
The USGA says you are limited by how fast you can make a driver. But within that you’re not limited by how big that area can be by shape, sound or trajectory left to right. So what we’re basically trying to do is make that sweet spot bigger and bigger and use adjustability to allow everyone to dial in exactly what they want.
The most consistent ball striking guys are those not trying to overpower the golf ball any more. They’re working with their hands and have skill with the short game. They can generally handle a 46-inch driver without too much trouble but the more you get in to guys that are trying to overpower the golf ball its generally not much use in using anything longer than 45 inches.
Unlike the 910 series, both D2 and D3 models now provide the same launch and spin characteristics to provide maximum fitting flexibility.
