TaylorMade Golf has been at the forefront of this charge and the r7 SuperQuad australia is one of their most recent entries into this exciting market segment.
The TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad Driver australia is engineered for players who prefer to assess and calculate before launching the ball, who enjoy tweaking their equipment in attempts to optimise their equipment and make the absolute most out of their physical abilities. The r7 SuperQuad has four MWT cartridge ports that free up 26 grams of movable weight (two 12-gram cartridges and two 1-gram cartridges) in a 460 cc head.
The weighting system differs slightly on this club than with the R7 CGB MAX driver australia and R7 Limited Driver australia. The superquad features 4 moveable weights, there are two 12g ports and two 1g ports which can be adjusted accordingly for your own preference. The lofts available for the R7 Superquad are 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 degrees. With 10.5 and 11.5 available in left hand and right, the model we trialled was the 9.5 degree version.
TaylorMade's patented Inverted Cone Technology does the same thing that high MOI does: preserves ball speed and distance on miss-hits. When you combine the effect of the club head’s high MOI with the positive affect of ICT, the result is an extraordinarily high "effective MOI," which permits the TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad to deliver the same type of high ball speed and distance on miss-hits equal to a driver that measures higher than 5800 MOI with a constant-thickness clubface, if not even better.
The TaylorMade SuperQuad has a bigger difference between the weights (12 and 1 gram) so the trajectory changes are more obvious than with the R7 Quad. The shaft in the standard SuperQuad model is OK, but if you have the cash then go for the TP version, which also has a more square alignment then this slightly closed version. As well as questioning its value for money, we have to mark it down for the noise at impact. It seems to be a trend now, but the crash sound at impact doesn't do it for us, especially when other TaylorMade drivers give a much better sound and feel.
The SuperQuad is one of the most forgiving drivers that TaylorMade has ever made. The company has been able to increase the MOI and the patented Inverted Cone technology makes bad shots go further. Distance has always been one of TaylorMade’s strengths and this driver doesn’t disappoint.
