Rencently, I would like to change my irons,I tried the taylormade burner 2.0 irons first but did not like the feel. The SpeedBlades Irons in my opinion are far more superior.
They are newly designed and all about speed and rebound. The SpeedBlade’s innovative Speed Pocket deep slot engineering behind the clubface allows the face to flex and rebound faster, increasing your ball speed and launch angle to boost your distance dramatically. The position of the slot low on the clubhead is an important factor, says Brian Bazzel, TaylorMade’s director of iron, wedge and putter development, who noted company research that showed 72 percent of iron shots hit by five- to 25-handicappers are struck below the center of the clubface, resulting in a low launch and loss of ball speed.
Compared to the RocketBladez, the speed pocket has been widened and lengthened to provide a more effective area near the heel and toe areas. The topline is also a bit thicker in the longer irons. While the SpeedBlade's thicker toplines and wider soles should instill confidence for mid- and high-handicap golfers, accomplished players will most notably benefit from the technologies designed into the SpeedBlades.
TaylorMade Golf officials say that the new SpeedBlade iron is a cutting-edge game-improvement club designed to launch the ball exceptionally high and far. They say that the key performance feature in this product is the improved Speed Pocket, a handlebar-shaped slot in the sole of the 3- to 7-irons that enables a large area of the clubface to flex and rebound at impact, resulting in faster ball speeds, higher launches and better feel.
The Speed Pocket also features a cut-through slot internally, which allows for more flex and rebound on the bottom part of the face; this makes the SpeedBlade Iron the fastest face ever created in TaylorMade lab, measuring right up to the COR limit.Looking at TaylorMade SpeedBlade Irons from a more technology-based side, a prominent feature looks to be the Inverted Cone Technology (it has a larger sweet spot on off-centre hits). This technology has been featured before on the Tour Burner and Burner OS model.
The long irons have a larger topline to inspire more confidence at address, and each has been optimised not only to promote distance, but enhanced feel and sound as well. This is due to the vibration-dampening qualities of the Speed Pocket polymer and multi-material badge. The distance-gap between clubs has been carefully managed by TaylorMade by controlling face thickness, loft, shaft, CG location, club length and most importantly through the Speed Pocket.
Overall, I love this set more than my old ping g20 irons, because they deliver on the promise of improvement, offering a healthy slice of generous consistency throughout the range.
