I have had every Ping G series driver since the G5. I demoed the Ping G30 driver for 18 holes prior to purchasing as was blown away. In all fairness, I did go from a stiff to a regular shaft in the G30. Much longer and every shot is playable from the fairway or just off.
The G30 driver has a 460cc head, new T9S face material that offers a thin, lightweight material to optimize ball speeds across the face, Trajectory Tuning+ Technology with five settings and two degrees of loft adjustability, and lastly Crown Turbulators which increases head stability and club speed.
It looks like it means business, sets up well, The Turbulators do their job well. I didn't gain a whole lot of distance compared to my taylormade sldr driver but the accuracy was way better with the G30. Launch angle was great, nice and high with a moderately penetrating flight. Mishits didn't lose a lot of distance. It is so forgiving and easy to swing, I couldn't pass it up. Took it on the course and on my 7th hole I hit my first official unassisted 300-yard drive.
Honestly, I also really liked the Ping G15 driver and Ping G20 driver. I could never hit the Ping G25 driver for sale consistently. I am soooooo glad that I did. I got it just before a 3 day trip to Pinehurst with friends. Hit it at the driving range several times and was impressed with the results. But then again, I usually hit the ball well at the range. It doesn't take long to get used to, especially when you think about the function of those Crown Turbulators, which Ping says are "Proven in wind-tunnel testing to reduce aerodynamic drag and create efficient airflow."
The forgiveness of this club is astounding. There are times, I know I hit the ball off the toe or heel and it still goes straight. The added distance is also amazing. I played Forest Oaks the Sunday before last and shot another 81. Both the G25 and G30 feel similar, but a glance at the launch monitor numbers below will give you a feel for the potential club speed improvement.
And this club definitely lets you know you hit it right. The sound is very pure. Overall, I am very satisfied. Ping has struck gold yet again. This driver is going to stay in my bag for a long time. I took a gamble as well on the Ping G30 Fairway Wood and they are equally impressive.
